Lisa Lisa, being the easiest to quietly sneak presents to given that they're both on the Bloodsport and Suzie's perpetually around for personal duties anyway, needs no planetside courier service for her Christmas presents; she'll simply find them arranged in a neat tower on the end of her bed, ranging from garment-sized boxes on the bottom to cube-shaped ones in the middle, with small rectangular ones on top of them all.
[Oh boy, Joseph is not looking forward to this. But he's gotta do it because he left Caesar to take care of things with Suzie. That means he's gotta do something about Lisa Lisa. It was easier just talking about talking to her though. Now that he's faced with actually doing it, well. Have you met Lisa Lisa? Mother or not, the woman is goddamn intimidating as hell. But okay. Here goes nothing.]
Hey, when you get a minute, I need to talk to you about something. ( ๑‾̀◡‾́)σ»
[Wait. Should he have used a little face like that? Fuuuuuu--]
[It's too late to take it back now though. Dammit. Crap. Mm.]
[ She doesn't know what this could be about, but it seems pretty important, so. In about twenty minutes or so, she arrives on the Caprine, looking for Joseph. ]
[AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH--oh, she's here. Joseph stands up, trying not to just bolt out of his seat when he spots her, but that's easier said than necessarily done.]
Hey. Um. [He motions that she can go ahead and sit on the other side of the table.] Do you want anything to drink?
[Boy howdy, why is there no alcohol when you actually need it?]
[ She raises an eyebrow. Sorry Jojo, she's really not good at making herself less intimidating. Mostly, she's just confused about how nervous he seems to be. ]
[Joseph was hoping for some small talk at least instead of jumping straight into it. Or maybe he was just hopeful that small talk would distract him and he could put it off until, you know, never. But. Okay. Here goes.]
[ . . . ]
[Aaaaaany minute now.]
[Okay. Joseph rubs at the back of his neck.]
I, uh...wanted to talk to you about some... [what's the word again???] things that happened. Before you got here. Between Caesar and me.
[Hey, if Joseph thought that realistically he could get away with never telling her, he absolutely would never. But the fact of the matter is, he doesn't want to have to keep his mother out of parts of his life now that she's here and she's making an effort. And truth be told, he's scared as hell about how she might react to this and what she's going to say. But no one can afford to keep secrets from one another anymore even if he didn't want her to really know him and be part of his life in every capacity.]
[Not that telling her is going to be smooth. The fidgeting and constant shift of position starts in almost immediately as he tries to explain in starts and stops. Joseph looks around the room, more or less anywhere but at Lisa Lisa. Is it getting warm in here? He thinks it's getting warm in here.]
Well, things were kinda rough for a while between the two of us. And... I mean, we fought a lot. I mean a lot. More than you ever saw. 'Cause I'd say something or he'd say something. And. [. . .] You know, so we'd just-- But things got better. Caesar was getting better. And. So we--
[Then abruptly, with no further preamble, he finally looks at Lisa Lisa and blurts out,]
[This is one of those moments where Joseph really wishes Lisa Lisa emoted more, even just a little. He's good at reading people--incredibly good at it, in fact--but she's next to impossible to get a read on. And this reaction it's...well, it's not much of a reaction for Joseph to really figure out what exactly to do with. So.]
[Why does everyone figure it out that fast? Honestly...]
[Anyway. That's not the point. Right now, anyway. That's not the point right now. This next part feels a lot more difficult to explain because a) he's not even really all that certain how the conversation with Suzie is going for Caesar and b) it's not really something that Joseph expects anybody to really necessarily understand right away. But he shouldn't give Lisa Lisa half-truths. That's unfair.]
Uh, well. It's about Suzie...
[Fidget, fidget.]
[The next time someone has to tell Lisa Lisa something, it's not going to be Jojo, tell you what...!]
